Like the Rugiens this youthfully austere effort is not blessed with outstanding mid-palate density but it’s wellbalanced and harmonious and should age effortlessly yet be approachable after only 5 to 7 years if desired

with little in the way of finesse or nuance

Dark licorice root, espresso and ganache flavors drive the finish, which has a muscular and still chewy edge. Cellar short term. Best from 2014 through 2022. JM
