Air Force in the 1950s, the Helmet Bag was designed as a protective carry case for pilots flight helmets and oxygen masks. The original model, officially known as the Flyers Helmet Bag Type HGU 2 P, became standard issue across both Air Force and Navy aviation units during the Cold War. Its purpose was purely functional: a lightweight, flat bag that could safely hold a helmet while preventing damage to the
